Obligation to Report

• If a police officer receives information about a plan or design to commit a cognizable offence, he must immediately report it.

Whom to Inform

• The police officer must communicate the information to:
  • His superior officer, to whom he is subordinate.
  • Any other officer responsible for preventing or taking cognizance of such an offence.
