CrPC Section-160 - Police Officer's power to require attendance of witnesses [1]

Description

  • Any police officer conducting an investigation under this Chapter may, by written order, require the attendance of any person within the limits of his own or any adjoining station, if such person appears to have knowledge of the facts and circumstances of the case. The person so required must comply and attend accordingly.

  • Exception:

    • No male under 15 years or above 65 years,
    • No woman,
    • No mentally or physically disabled person
      shall be required to attend anywhere other than their residence.
  • The State Government may establish rules for the payment of reasonable expenses incurred by persons attending at a place other than their residence.
