CrPC Section-163 - No inducement to be offered

Description

  1. No police officer or any other person in authority shall offer, make, or cause to be offered or made any inducement, threat, or promise as described in Section 24 of the Indian Evidence Act, 1872 (1 of 1872).
  2. However, no police officer or other person shall prevent any individual, whether by caution or otherwise, from making a statement voluntarily during the course of an investigation under this Chapter.

Exception:

  • This provision shall not affect the provisions of Sub-Section (4) of Section 164, which pertains to the recording of confessions and statements before a Magistrate.
