**"Every police officer conducting an investigation under this Chapter shall maintain a daily diary, recording details such as the time the information was received, the time the investigation commenced and concluded, the locations visited, and a summary of the facts discovered during the investigation.
Any Criminal Court may summon these police diaries during an inquiry or trial to assist in proceedings. However, these diaries shall not serve as evidence in the case.
Neither the accused nor their representatives shall have the right to demand or review these diaries solely because they are referenced by the Court. However, if a police officer uses them to refresh their memory or if the Court refers to them to contradict the officer’s testimony, the provisions of Section 161 or Section 145 of the Indian Evidence Act, 1872 (1 of 1872), shall apply."**
