Description

Different offences can be inquired into or tried by Courts based on specific rules of jurisdiction:

1. Thug, Murder by a Thug, Dacoity, Gang of Dacoits, Escape from Custody

• Can be tried where the offence was committed or where the accused is found.

2. Kidnapping or Abduction

• Can be tried where the person was kidnapped or abducted.
• Can also be tried where the person was conveyed, concealed, or detained.

3. Theft, Extortion, or Robbery

• Can be tried where the offence was committed.
• Can also be tried where the stolen property was possessed by the offender or someone who knowingly received or retained it.

4. Criminal Misappropriation or Criminal Breach of Trust

• Can be tried where the offence was committed.
• Can also be tried where any part of the property was received, retained, or was required to be returned/accounted for by the accused.

5. Possession of Stolen Property

• Can be tried where the offence was committed.
• Can also be tried where the stolen property was possessed by a person who knowingly received or retained it.
