CrPC Section-182 - Offences committed by letters, etc
Description
1. Cheating (Including Deception via Communication)
- If deception is practiced through letters or telecommunication messages, the case may be tried where such messages were sent or received.
- If the offence involves cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property, the case may be tried where the deceived person delivered the property or where the accused received the property.
2. Bigamy (Sections 494 & 495 IPC)
Cases involving bigamy or concealment of a former marriage can be inquired into or tried in:
- The place where the offence was committed.
- The place where the offender last resided with their first spouse.
- The place where the wife from the first marriage has taken up permanent residence after the offence.
