When an offence committed in a territory outside India is being inquired into or tried under Section 188, the Central Government may direct that:
- Copies of depositions made or exhibits produced before a judicial officer in that territory, or
- Before a diplomatic or consular representative of India in that territory,
shall be received as evidence by the Court conducting the inquiry or trial.
This applies in cases where the Court could have issued a commission to take evidence on those matters.
