Description
General Rule
No Court shall take cognizance of an offence punishable under Section 498A of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), 1860 except:
- Upon a police report detailing the facts constituting the offence, or
- Upon a complaint made by:
- The aggrieved woman herself, or
- Her father, mother, brother, or sister, or
- Her father's or mother's brother or sister, or
- Any other person related to her by blood, marriage, or adoption, but only with the Court’s permission.
