CrPC Section-208 - Supply of copies of statements and documents to accused in other cases triable by Court of Session

Description

"In cases instituted otherwise than on a police report, if the Magistrate issuing process under Section 204 finds that the offence is exclusively triable by the Court of Session, they shall, without delay and free of cost, provide the accused with copies of the following:

  1. Statements recorded under Section 200 or Section 202, including those of all persons examined by the Magistrate.
  2. Statements and confessions, if any, recorded under Section 161 or Section 164.
  3. Any documents presented before the Magistrate on which the prosecution intends to rely.

Provision:

  • If any such document is deemed voluminous, the Magistrate may allow the accused to inspect it in court, personally or through a pleader, instead of furnishing a copy.
