CrPC Section-226 - Opening case for prosecution

Description

  1. Role of the Prosecutor:

    • The Public Prosecutor must open the case by describing the charge against the accused.
    • He must explain the nature of the offence and the key facts that form the basis of the prosecution.
  2. Statement of Evidence:

    • The Prosecutor must state what evidence will be presented to prove the guilt of the accused.
    • This includes witnesses, documents, and other materials supporting the prosecution’s case.

This step ensures that the accused and the Court are fully aware of the case against them before the trial proceeds.
