If a summons has been issued under Section 206 and the accused wishes to plead guilty without appearing before the Magistrate, he may send a letter containing his plea, along with the specified fine amount, either by post or through a messenger. The Magistrate, at his discretion, may convict the accused in absentia based on the guilty plea and impose the specified fine, adjusting the amount transmitted by the accused accordingly. Alternatively, if a pleader authorized by the accused enters a guilty plea on his behalf, the Magistrate shall record the plea as closely as possible in the pleader’s words and may, at his discretion, convict the accused and impose the specified fine.
