"Detained" – This term includes detention under any law that provides for preventive detention (laws allowing authorities to detain a person to prevent a potential crime rather than as a punishment for an offense already committed).

"Prison" – The definition of "prison" is expanded to include:

• Any place declared by the State Government (through a general or special order) as a subsidiary jail.
• Reformatories, Borstal institutions, or other similar institutions meant for the rehabilitation and reformation of offenders, rather than strict incarceration.
