CrPC Section-278 - Procedure in regard to such evidence when completed

Description

(1) As the evidence of each witness recorded under Section 275 or Section 276 is completed, it shall be read over to the witness in the presence of the accused, if in attendance, or in the presence of his pleader if he is represented by one. Any necessary corrections shall be made accordingly.

(2) If the witness disputes the accuracy of any part of the evidence when read to him, the Magistrate or Presiding Judge may, instead of making corrections, record a memorandum of the objection raised by the witness and add such remarks as deemed necessary.

(3) If the record of the evidence is in a language different from that in which it was given, and the witness does not understand that language, the record shall be interpreted to him either in the language in which the evidence was originally given or in a language he understands.
