"Upon receiving the commission, the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate or Chief Judicial Magistrate, or a Metropolitan or Judicial Magistrate appointed by them, shall summon the witness or proceed to their location to record their evidence. The evidence shall be taken in the same manner as in warrant-case trials under this Code, and the Magistrate may exercise the same powers for this purpose."
