Appeals to the Court of Session are typically heard by the Sessions Judge or Additional Sessions Judge.Appeals from a conviction in a trial held by a Magistrate of the second class can be heard by an Assistant Sessions Judge or Chief Judicial Magistrate.Assistant Sessions Judges, Chief Judicial Magistrates, or Additional Sessions Judges can only hear appeals that the Sessions Judge of the division assigns to them or that the High Court directs them to hear.
